FAQ: Dawn of Madness
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

If I pledge a lesser amount now and upgrade in the PM, will I still get the Early Bird?

Yes. We are going by backer number rather than having a standalone Early Bird pledge with this campaign, so if you pledge even $1 now then you will be able to upgrade in the pledge manager and still get your early bird.

Will this campaign utilize a pledge manager? When will it open? (And what is a pledge manager?)

Yes, we will use a pledge manager for Dawn of Madness. We haven’t decided which one yet, though we have used Backerkit several times in the past. It will likely open next year, probably in late January or February.

If you’ve never used a pledge manager before, it is a website separate from Kickstarter that lets you pay for shipping, put in your address, add any add-ons you want, and change your pledge level. It is a very useful thing to have, and we will certainly be using one again.

Why aren't all stretch goals available to all pledge levels?

A lot of stretch goals are extremely expensive to produce. Miniatures are an obvious one, but other components can be, too - in fact, in some cases they can completely dwarf the cost of miniatures. Books are one such item, as are double-layer player boards, etc. Because of this, if we offered every stretch goal to every pledge level, we would run out of money very, very quickly. Having said that, we will strive to give all of our backers as much content at the most reasonable price that we possibly can.

Will Deep Madness be available to purchase in the pledge manager?

Currently the answer is unfortunately no. The reason for this is three-fold: first, because it would add a massive heaping of logistics to what could end up being an already complex campaign, because it would likely clog up production with an entirely separate game being shipped at the same time, and, third, because shipping companies charge for every added SKU that’s in an order - and Deep Madness has a lot of SKUs.

However, we are definitely considering doing a second reprint at some point next year, so there is reason to hope.

Current Estimated Shipping Date: December 2025

URGENT! Wave Two Pledge Manager Reopens – Action Required Before End of July! Dear Dawn of Madness Backer, This is a very important notification regarding your Dawn of Madness Wave Two order, and we kindly ask that you read the following information carefully to ensure your Wave Two order is properly processed and fulfilled. 🌀 A New Pledge Manager – Hosted on Gamefound We have reopened the pledge manager, and you must confirm your order by the end of July 2025. However, this time it’s not on BackerKit – it’s on Gamefound, and appears as a new campaign. To new backers, this functions like a traditional late pledge. But for you, our original Kickstarter backers, this is your reopened pledge manager. So don’t be confused by the new appearance – just follow the steps outlined here and everything will be taken care of. We have already imported your email address into the Gamefound system and added a $1 credit per core game to your account. This ensures the system recognizes you as a backer of this campaign and allows you to access your pledge correctly. 🔗 Join the Campaign on Gamefound ✅ What You Need to Do: 1. Visit the campaign page and select your pledge level. If you want to add any new content, please make sure to select one of the following pledge levels: Upgrade Pack, New Essentials, or Otherworld Experience Upgrade. These pledge levels will waive the base shipping cost by combining with your original order. 2. Even if you don’t wish to buy anything new, please still select the Upgrade Pack pledge level. This ensures you will be able to provide a new shipping address in the Gamefound system before fulfillment. This pack will not alter your previously paid shipping and is necessary for address confirmation and merging. The Upgrade Pack is a vital enhancement to the core game and is free for all original backers. However, Gamefound does not allow $0 checkouts – so we’ve listed it at $1, and added $1 credit to your account to cover it. You will not pay anything extra. 3. If you’d like to explore the new expansions or add-ons, feel free to add them – this is the perfect chance to complete your collection. 4. Complete your pledge before the end of July. ⚠️ Why This Is Critical: Before shipping, we will merge your original BackerKit order with your new Gamefound selections and ship them together in Wave Two. The warehouse will match orders based on email and shipping address: • If the same email and address appear, your orders will be merged. • If there are two addresses under one email, we will merge and ship them to the new Gamefound address. This is why it is essential that you confirm your pledge and update your shipping info on Gamefound. 🧾 A Few Notes About Your Account: • If you have a Gamefound account, and its email address is the same as the one you used in Backerkit/Kickstarter, please use it to join the campaign. • If you do not have a Gamefound account, the system will automatically create one for you using the email address from your BackerKit/Kickstarter order. • If you already have a Gamefound account but the email address is different from the one you used in BackerKit/Kickstarter, please contact us at 📩 [email protected] and we will help you sync your information manually. 🛒 What Should I Buy? First, we recommend checking your original order on Backerkit to see what you already own, since your previous pledge contents will not appear on Gamefound. However, most backers will fall into one of the categories below. Based on these situations, we offer the following suggestions: 🔹 If You Backed the Original Kickstarter All-In: We recommend choosing the New Essentials pledge level in this new campaign. It includes all the important new gameplay content as well as the deluxe Save System. After selecting this pledge, we suggest checking out the Add-ons: Accessories section, where you’ll find new additions like the Audio Narrative, New Colored Dice, and Card Sleeves, along with essential upgrades like the Component Storage Box. 🔹 If You Backed the Original Kickstarter at the Otherworld Level (Core Game + Miniatures): You have three main options depending on what you’d like to do: 1. If you only want the Upgrade Pack or perhaps a few additional add-ons, choose the Upgrade Pack pledge level. 2. If you only want the new content, choose the New Essentials pledge level, and feel free to add anything else you'd like. 3. If you’d like to upgrade to the new Gameplay All-In, select the Otherworld Experience Upgrade pledge. Each pledge level includes a detailed description to help you decide. Once selected, feel free to explore the Add-ons: Accessories section for more new and exciting additions. 🔸 Already Own Some Add-ons and Want to Upgrade to a New Pledge Level? If you previously purchased some individual add-ons and now want to switch to a new pledge level that includes overlapping products, please contact [email protected]. Cherry will help remove those items from your original Backerkit order and issue a credit refund in your Gamefound account accordingly. 📆 Project Timeline ✧ English Version • Late June – Production begins • Late July – Orders locked; shipping fees charged • Late September – Production completed • October – Packing and freight preparation • November – Ocean freight in transit • December – Arrival at regional hubs and fulfillment begins ✧ Other Language Versions (French, German, Spanish) • Late July – Orders locked; shipping fees charged • Late October – Translation, layout, and proofreading completed; production prep finalized • November – Production begins • January – Production completed • February – Chinese New Year: factories closed for approximately one month • March – Packing and freight preparation • April – Ocean freight in transit • May – Arrival at regional hubs and fulfillment begins Thank you so much for your continued support. BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
